I walked to the dorm quietly, but my heart still thumping hard. I took in two deep breaths, and opened the door to the living room of the dorm. It was still the same. The dark staircase leading up to the second floor was placed next to the wall, the kitchen door beside the stairs. There were couches placed neatly in front of the television. I walked past it, and up the stairs to my room. I opened the door, and saw Raquel talking to Georgina. Raquel’s eyes were filled with concern, and Georgina’s with smugness. Smugness? Why. I wonder.
“Hey superstar!” Georgina said, smiling.
True, she called me a superstar because I was the school’s Acez Guardians' guitarist. But her eyes were smug. I don’t know why.
“Hey Georgina, Raquel.” I said.
Raquel grinned, as she sat down on my bed.
“Raquel, you’re a Aristocracy?” I asked.
She nodded, and smirked.
“No wonder you looked so beautiful the first time I met you.” I said.
“You weren’t a vampire when we first met you, but you still looked like a superstar.” Raquel commented.
I laughed, it sounded like ringing bells.
Raquel grinned again, and Georgina began to ask me questions.
“So you’ve met Lukas.” Georgina said.
I nodded, then asked, “How did you know?”
Then I groaned. Sworn Bloods know everything about their custodian.
“You lied didn’t you? I’m hurt, Rose.” Georgina said.
I scoffed, and sat on my bed. I yawned, and Georgina smiled.
“Time for the sleepyhead to be in bed!” Raquel said.
Georgina smiled, and beckoned me to change into my own clothes.
I opened my wardrobe, and realized all my tees and pants were changed.
Instead, inside held tops that were against the school’s dress code. Just
some. And my pants were changed into hot pants, and maybe one or two shorts. My miniskirts stayed intact. I turned around, and glared at Georgina.
“Oops. She found out Raquel.” Georgina whispered.
Raquel laughed out loud, and smirked.
“Don’t worry. I made sure they looked perfect on you.” Raquel told me.
I sighed, and shook my head. I grabbed a plain white shirt, and shorts,
and walked into the bathroom. I rinsed my face, and looked into the mirror. True. My features changed. I had slightly higher cheekbones. That’s all. I brushed my teeth, and yawned again. I walked out of the bathroom, and saw Georgina reading a book.
“Book much?” I asked sitting down on my bed.
“C’mon, you’re a bookworm too. You even read Vampire stories.” Georgina said, without looking up from her book.
I looked around, not seeing Raquel in sight.
“Where’s Raquel?” I asked.
“Back in her room. She said she wanted to study.” I smiled at the thought
of haughty Raquel studying. I sat down on my bed, thinking over and over about the events that changed me. Surprisingly, I feel asleep while
thinking.
I woke up, very utterly refreshed. Georgina was still asleep. I glanced at the clock. Three in the afternoon. I groaned. I had eight hours of sleep, and school starts in four hours. I went to the toilet to wash up, and wore a black hot pants and midnight blue blouse. I walked out of the dorm. Actually, curfew says we can’t leave our dorm until half past three. But whatever. I’m used to breaking school rules. I opened the door, and walked down the staircase. I saw Raquel sitting on the couch in the lounge. Surprised she didn’t sense me walking. She screamed. Yup. Raquel screamed. Her eyes not clear. I rushed over to her side, and knelt in front of her.
“Raquel?” I asked, my voice thick with worry.
The door to the dorm opened, Lukas and Melinda entered the lounge. Melinda calmed Raquel down, and Raquel became calm, she blinked. Her eyes filled with tears, she was sobbing. But it wasn’t over. Raquel was having a vision. Her vision seeped into my mind, and I felt my body dislocated from my mind, as I felt the vision play in my mind.
Georgina, in blood and scars, laid on her bed. In our dorm. Her eyes wide and scared. But what was scary was Georgina dead. The Sworn Blood princess dead. It was impossible. Then, I saw a shadow leaking in the dark corner of our room. It was scary. It had scarlet eyes, blood stained lips, and very, very pale skin. I was in my bed. I was in my own body. My future. The attacker jumped on me, and her claws snaked out of her fingers, and tore my skin. Her claws then hit my neck, trying to dislocate my head from my body. The pain hurt so much, I screamed out. The attacker’s eyes glowed with hatred, and hunger.
“Rosaline. Rosaline. Snap out of your vision.” A seductive voice said, calming me. I blinked again, and realized tears were streaking down my cheeks. I hesitantly wiped them away with the back of my hand.
“Rosaline, are you all right?” Melinda asked. I couldn’t answer. Not now. Georgina would be in danger. I sat down beside Raquel. Her face was worried too. A vision. Because Melinda had snapped Raquel out of it, her vision managed to enter me. Normally, only Destined Bloods would have visions. But Raquel was a special Aristocracy. Lukas passed me something warm. I looked at him, and he was looking at me and Raquel with worried eyes. I took the cup. It was hot chocolate. My hands were trembling slightly. I could tell. The hot chocolate was shaking. I took in deep breaths, and sipped the hot chocolate. It was rich in chocolate. Just how I liked it. Raquel looked at me.
“Would you like to tell us what you saw in the vision, Rose?” Lukas asked,
as he sat down in the couch opposite us. My lips still trembling, I managed to tell him the whole story.
“Cryptos.” Melinda said, the word almost like a hiss.
I stood up, and Raquel looked at me with worried eyes.
“Don’t worry. I’ll do my best to protect Georgina.” I said, giving her a small smile. She smiled back, as I began to walk back to my room.
“Rose, don’t tell what you saw to Georgina. You’ll frighten her.” Melinda warned. I nodded, as I stood there, thinking.
Raquel walked out of the lounge, to the kitchen. Probably to calm herself down. Melinda walked out of the dorm quietly. Leaving Lukas behind. I walked up the stairs, but a warm hand grabbed my wrist. I could feel the charge of heat. I turned around.
Lukas’s eyes looked surprised too. But when his eyes met mine, his voice was gentle.
“If you have a vision of Georgina again, you’ve got to tell me, okay? And remember, there are two more custodians protecting Georgina. You don’t have to bear all the consequences on your own. ”
I nodded, and walked up the stairs, as I heard the lounge’s door close. Georgina was up already, and on her bed.
“Hey custodian.” Georgina said, grinning widely.
“Hey.” was all I could say. I felt worn out but maybe if I just sat down and
distract myself, I might feel better.
“What happened? You look so worn out.” Georgina commented, tying her hair.
“Nothing. I went out for a walk earlier.” I said, yawning. I saw my book, Gone with the Wind. I never knew why I liked that book. I just did. I flipped it open, and began to read.
“Finally, you’re reading?” Georgina asked, tidying her uniform. She was still in her pajamas I realized. She was ironing her uniform. I felt sticky, and I decided to take a bath.
“What? I’m busy okay. I’ve got concerts to perform, ordered by Headmistress Melinda, making sure my Lady is in tip top shape.” I said, grinning, looking at her. She grinned back.
She didn’t look like she’d use the bathroom anytime now, so I grabbed a black button jacket, a long sleeved white blouse, and a checkered
miniskirt. I turned on the shower, and stepped in. The cold water rinsed my face, cooling off any heat that was caused by the vision earlier. The water was refreshing. It was like it could was away the memory of the vision. And it did. I completely forgot about it.
After feeling clean enough, I stepped out of the shower. I semi dried my hair, buttoned up my white blouse. Pulling on the jacket, but not buttoning it up. I pinned on the school’s badge over my heart, and wore my skirt. I glanced into the mirror, my hair was still slightly wet. I grabbed the hairdryer in the bathroom, and blew dry it. I took my comb, and brushed it smoothly. I walked out of the bathroom, Georgina still ironing her uniform.
“Isn’t your uniform in a great condition?” I asked.
She merely smiled, and grabbed her uniform, and walked into the bathroom. After two minutes, I could hear the water flowing. A gentle knock came on the door. I opened it, surprised to see Raquel and Lukas standing at the door.
‘Rosaline, you’re going to begin your training with Raquel, is that all right?” Lukas asked.
“Raquel?” I asked.
She frowned. Clearly, she was offended by the Destined blood that
underestimated her. Obviously, that Pureblood was me. Raquel’s frown then turned back to her haughty smile.
“We’ll see about that, Ms. Destined blood.” She said haughtily.
