She wanted to be Georgina’s third Turned out, Raquel was a half Destined blood, half Aristocracy. Meaning, she had the ability of illusions, visions. But what she lacked of was combat skills. She wanted to be Georgina’s third custodian. And of course, Lukas agreed. He began to train us using our illusions, and he himself as a ‘guinea pig’. Lukas brought us to the hall which was no longer popular to be used as.
“Concentrate on how you want to confuse your opponent. What you want the opponent to feel. But not what you are feeling.” He told us. He needed to start one by one. So he started with me first.
“Imagine the opponent is a Vampire Hunter. The type that kills any vampire. He doesn’t care if you’re a Swornblood, Destined Blood, Aristocracy or Crypto. He wants you dead. What do intend to show him?” He began, asking me what I’d do.
If you’re an illusionist and a combat fighter, you can’t just sit down and illustrate right? But he made me sit down first. He said it was easier. To be trained. I didn’t get it, but I still sat down. What I wanted to show the hunters… I thought. The pain of killing us. But of course not. I just needed to change the environment. I concentrated on imagining a deep and sinful backdrop. To show how much sorrow had been placed on us to just kill us vampires. I chose that, and closed my eyes tight, deep in concentration. It was like pulling an elastic band. Raquel gasped, and I opened my eyes slightly.
The backdrop was just like how I’d imagined. Dark red colored the walls of the hall, sinister colors. And there it was. The aura of pure evil, something dark brewing. I left a part of mine concentrating on it, and I opened my eyes wider.
“That’s right. Rosaline, you’re doing it right.” Lukas said to me.
Suddenly, something seeped into my mind, and the elastic band snapped back into its original shape. I gasped out loud, as another vision took place.
This time, I wasn’t in my body. I was in someone else’s. It was a male. He was running hard and fast through the forest. It was dark. As though someone was chasing him. I could hear the hard, loud footsteps of the pursuer. Soon, he ran up to the gates of the Lucifer's Academy. I recognized our school because of the “L'sA” placed on the gates. And partly because of the Gothic gates our school used. I could hear hounds. The boy was torn, and bloody. He was a Destined blood. I could feel the blood of a Swornblood and Destined blood mixing in him. He was gasping, and bleeding. The gates of the Immortal Academy slid open. Separating the L and A in the “LA”. Georgina stood there, smiling. The boy stepped into the gates, safe from his pursuers.
“Welcome to the Immortal Academy, Eriol.” Georgina said, her arms opening into a embrace.
That was end of the vision. I blinked twice to clear my eyesight. Lukas and Raquel were looking at me, concerned.
“Your eyes just turned… , I don’t know, diluted. And the illusion disappeared straight away.” Lukas commented, after I told them the vision. We were standing at the school gates. Yes, It was dark, and it fitted the vision perfectly. I didn’t know why Georgina would welcome Eriol. we were out of sight from Georgina. Georgina had no idea we were spying on her. There, she stood, waiting at the gates. Not that there were no guards. She hypnotized them, a advantage to Swornbloods.
Suddenly, the sky turned darker, and the vision began. I heard the footsteps of a runner running towards the school, hounds howling. Georgina tensed. I was about to turn towards her, when Raquel grabbed my wrist, and shook her head. The gates of Lucifer's Academy opened, and Eriol ran in. We tensed, as the gates began to close again.
“Welcome to the academy, Eriol. We’ve been waiting for you.” Georgina said. We?
“Well come out from hiding, Rose, Lukas, Raquel.” Georgina’s gentle voice ordered. Ordered? No way, my best friend wouldn’t order people around. But we did come out from our hiding spot.
Eriol was way more bloody then I realized. His face was scratched by hound’s claws, his shoulder shot by a gun. I snarled. I didn’t know why. I just did. Those pathetic hunters! They hurt us. The hounds were still near. I could sense them. What? Now I had intuition? Lukas held my wrists down, when I began to walk towards the gates of the school. I twisted my head back, so I could look at him. In his eyes, were concern and determination. Determination to stop me from hunting down those hunters.
Three meters away, there they stood. Holding guns, hounds, and silver and gold stakes. I shook my head, my smooth brown hair nearly messed up.
“I’ve warned you before hadn’t I? I told you before, to stop hunting us down. You didn’t ’listen, did you?” I said, is a harsh tone.
A young human teenager, around eighteen, walked up. He had dark brown hair, and black eyes. If I wasn’t furious at them chasing after my kind, I’d say he’s hot. He was holding a silver whip in his hands. I recognized him. Stephan.
“But we’ve also warned you before, we’d hunt down any vampire we see roaming on the streets of Japan.” His voice low and intimidating. I almost fell for his voice. But instead, I glared at him. Lukas’s grip grew tighter, and slowly, the surroundings changed. It turned into the same dark, sinister place. No, it wasn’t my doing. I was too flared up to concentrate on doing such a thing.
The gates of the academy slid open, the group of seven hunters stepped into the academy.
I nearly snarled at them again. But I was distracted by what was in my hands. Nope, not the warm feeling of Lukas’s wrist, but a midnight red guitar with midnight purple strings. It was decorated in gothic style.. Lukas released my grip, as a box appeared in front of me. I hesitantly took it. It, too, was decorated in midnight blue gothic. I opened it, surprised to see midnight blue darts, tipped with gold and silver. Cryptos hated silver and gold. It burns their skin. But how did the creator know I loved midnight blue, that all my weapons were in midnight blue?
The Hunters grabbed Georgina when they saw that I was distracted. Georgina was a Swornblood. Its obvious they’ll grab her, and do who knows what weird experiment. Glad that my weapon had came to me, which was unbelievable, since they should come after I graduated, I stood in front of Raquel and Lukas. The hunters glared at me. Stephan stood in front of them too. I narrowed my eyes at him. My guitar in my hands, I pulled a string, and amazingly, a beautiful element, rain, came up. The illusion was still there. All I did was to boost it up. The sinister feeling tightened my stomach. I could hear heels clicking down. Oh no, headmistress Melinda’s coming. Quickly, we snapped back. The hunters disappeared, the illusions did too. Melinda appeared before us, her eyes wide.
“Lukas, what happened here? Why is there a new comer?” Melinda asked.
“He ran into us. Rosaline had a vision that he would appear here. We waited for him. And then they came.” Lukas said, summing up everything into three sentences.
“I see. Rosaline, why are you holding a Gothic box and a guitar?” She asked. Damn it, I forgot to keep it out of sight.
I bit my lip, thinking of an excuse, when Melinda took in a sharp breath, and stood in front of me. She took the box, and examined it.
“No doubt. it’s a gift from her.” She muttered. Her?
“Rosaline, how did you get the weapons?” She asked.
“If you’d ask me about the trident, it appeared in my hands just like that, whereas the box appeared in front of me, at first in a ball of light.” I said.
The colors were in bright blue. I remembered.
“Well, that’s the work of Yasmin no doubt.” She commented, as she returned me my box.
“Well, return to the dining hall please. Its already 6P.M. Don’t you want to grab a bite before school? The new comer will be with me, don’t worry. His mentor will be decided later.” Melinda announced.
We walked away. I kept thinking about my darts. Why oh why, do guardians only have one when I have two?
“Don’t worry about your weapon. Mine’s even much more simpler than yours.” Lukas said, walking beside me.
I looked at him, and he smiled gently.
“A dagger.” He replied.
“D-dagger?” I stammered.
He smiled, as he revealed the black hilt of his dagger, before pulling it out. It was, like everything, tipped with gold and silver. Before I opened the door leading to the dining hall, he kept it in his back pocket.
I pushed opened the doors. It looked normal. Raquel, Georgina and I walked to the Sophomores’ area, while Lukas joined the guardians for breakfast. Seeing a different item on the table, I half smiled.
“Morning, Rosaline.” I looked up, and saw Althea and Aston smiling at me.
I smiled back.
“Heard the latest? Everyone, at least the vampires, said you’ve turned hot over night.” I made a face, and Aston laughed.
I ate my food in silence after that. When the bell rung, I stood up, and walked to class.
The humans didn’t notice I’ve changed. Of course. Their eyes were as sharp as ours. I continued to walk, and walk. Then I bumped into someone. “Ah, I’m-” I said, looking at the person.
I blinked again, and hissed.
Stephan.
